The Director of HR & Culture will be responsible for leading all aspects of Human Resources including recruiting/retention, benefits, hiring/onboarding, performance management, compliance, training and development, and all other HR strategy and operations. This position will be responsible for managing and employee coaching to support the success of the organization and its strategic objectives. In addition, this role is responsible for fostering and maintaining the team culture.
Role and Responsibilities
Responsible for creating, updating, and applying all HR policies and company guidelines and making sure they adhere to standards and laws initiated by applicable authorities.
Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes and new technologies in human resources and employment law.
Assures local facility complies with all federal, state, and local laws governing employment.
Designs (as needed), revises, and communicates HR policies and procedures, including updates the Employee Handbook as needed.
Manage employee benefit open enrollment process. Ensure timely, accurate enrollment of all new hires and manage benefit changes including those involving employee termination
Provide assistance and support to employees regarding questions or problems with benefit-related issues.
Administer and oversee tracking for employee leaves of absence from inquiry through approval and return including ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures.
Communicates benefit-related changes and assists employees with questions regarding benefits.
Demonstrates employee advocacy and mediates difficult employee relations and/or other interactions as a neutral party.
Administer employee exit process including completion and processing of required paperwork and conducting formal exit interviews with departing employees.
Process unemployment notices in a timely and effective manner. Attend unemployment hearings as needed.
Work with the accounting team to assist in the administration of payroll, benefits and expense report processing.
Oversee benefit and compensation plans to ensure cost efficiencies and attractiveness to retain top talent
Talent and Culture development
Leads talent management, employee development, retention programs and succession planning initiatives.
Develops and implements staffing strategies inclusive of working with recruiters and coordinating 1099 contractors and freelancers as needed.
Assist in all activities related to the recruitment and hiring process from initiation through offer and acceptance
Lead the new hire orientation/onboarding program, including helping to provide a comprehensive and informative introduction to the company and policies.
Assist department managers in developing training programs and in employee retention initiatives.
Designs programs and policies to cultivate a strong team culture.
Regularly meet with upper management and department managers to assist in building morale and fostering and maintaining company culture.
Provides value-added services including strategic management and leadership development.
Coach managers on how to appropriately manage and resolve moderately complex issues among their teams
Support training initiatives, training, and programs.
Other projects or duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Human Resources or related field with 5+ years of recent HR experience.
Strong leadership and hands-on capabilities in Employee Relations, Staffing, Talent Management, Regulatory Compliance, and Managerial coaching.
Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal laws regarding employment and wage and hour requirements.
Demonstrated functional knowledge of multiple HR competencies including Talent Management, Succession Planning, Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, Leadership Development and Employee Education.
Experience managing multiple projects concurrently, demonstrating a sense of urgency and results orientation.
Ability to integrate within the culture of the company through partnering with team leaders.
Experience developing initiatives to promote positive team dynamics including a culture of cooperation, teamwork, and open communication at all levels.
Strong interpersonal skills, as demonstrated by strong written and oral communication, and high emotional intelligence
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
Develop trust and rapport and influence cross-functional team members and leaders
Remain respectful and empathetic when confronted with difficult and uncomfortable situations surrounding an investigation
Able to handle confidential information in a mature and professional manner
