watch it: this prototype transforms your arm into a touchscreen

back to blog

Researchers in the Future Interfaces Group (FIG) at Carnegie Mellon University have developed a smartwatch prototype called the SkinTrack that lets you use your arm as an extended touchscreen.

By wearing a ring on the opposite hand that interacts with sensors on the watch, you can swipe, scroll, play video games, or even draw on a much larger surface than the watch face itself. Those shifts can then be used to calculate exactly where your finger is touching.
