An “everything-proof” substance

back to blog

You may be familiar with waterproof materials, but could you imagine everything-proof materials? In a University of Michigan materials science lab, professor Anish Tuteja has formulated a substance that might make it possible. This omniphobic coating repels essentially every known liquid, including waters, oils, alcohols, and more. From messy toddlers to dirty phone screens, this mixture can be sprayed, brushed, dipped, or spin-coated onto surfaces for endless possibilities in application.
