With the ability to assist in copywriting and editing, ChatGPT is an alluring, freely available, and intimidating AI tool for copywriters.
Especially in healthcare copywriting, it’s not enough for the information to be conveyed accurately. It is also critical to ensure copy is easily understood. Can ChatGPT do that?
Well, apparently even we can’t.
Current healthcare materials fail to achieve recommended readability standards. In an evaluation of over 2000 published patient education materials from 1998 to 2018, only 2.1% met the American Medical Association recommendation of a sixth grade reading level.
If ChatGPT can generate accurate healthcare copy at an appropriate readability, it could present a unique application to alleviate this problem.
